Denmark's largest surface water treatment plant

Om projektet

Produkt

WaterCare fine particle separator

Lokation

Asger Jorn's Square in Ørestad

WaterCare Filtration has produced Denmark's largest treatment plant for the treatment of pollutants in road water/surface water. As a result of climate change and overloading of the wastewater pipes, the Municipality of Copenhagen, like so many others, has been forced to separate sewers and then separately treat the rainwater, in order to relieve the large treatment plants. The treated water is discharged to the Amager Nature Park, which is a Natura 2000 area.

The treatment plant is called DPF110 and cleans surface water from 30 hectares (15 hectares of trafficked road and parking area).

The system's capacity is 110l/sec - hence the name DPF110.

The plant is located under Asger Jorns Plads in Ørestad. After purification, the water is oxygenated. The purified water is then discharged to the Amager Nature Park, which is a Natura 2000 area.

In 2019/2020, construction of the site will follow, where the water is planned to be used for recreational purposes before being discharged. The purified water will be visible in the upcoming 'Common Staircase', where the water is oxygenated down through it and contributes to a pleasant environment.
