In the middle of Funen, 30 km southwest of Odense and 20 km southeast of Assens, lies the charming village of Jordløse with approximately 350 inhabitants. Many may simply pass through the town without stopping, but Jordløse Parish, in close collaboration with Assens Municipality, is now trying to change that – and with good reason.
Jordløse Bakker is one of Funen's most beautiful and varied natural areas with hilly terrain, dense forests and a rich wildlife. This sustainable landscape attracts both nature lovers and active outdoor enthusiasts, and now there are even more reasons to stop by.
As part of the project, four modern shelters and a connected trail system south of the city, known as 'Stories and Connections in the City Landscape', have been established. The new trails offer experiences for walkers, horse riders and cyclists who can enjoy the wild nature while also delving into local history through signs with exciting anecdotes about the area.
The four shelters are strategically located along the trail systems and offer an authentic nature experience with modern facilities. Here, overnight guests can enjoy the starry sky and wake up to birdsong, knowing that the facilities are both practical and sustainable.
To ensure hygiene and comfort, the shelters are equipped with multi-toilets built directly on specially designed 1,200-liter WaterCare collection tanks. These tanks are particularly suitable where wastewater cannot be drained in the traditional way. WaterCare has cast and machined the collection tanks in its own factory, which makes it possible to adapt the solutions precisely to the needs of the project. The customized tanks also have specially designed risers that allow the tanks to be placed directly under the toilets, which both simplifies installation and improves the user experience.
With these modern and project-adapted facilities, Jordløse has created an attractive starting point for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers seeking authentic experiences in scenic surroundings.
